Urgent Med Housecalls
We are seeking practitioners to staff this innovative and unique work-from-home mobile medical practice:
Urgent Med Housecalls offers highly convenient urgent care, brought to patients, wherever they are, whether in home, hotel room, business, workplace, or elsewhere.
We carry medications, IV fluids, extensive medical equipment, including suturing and splinting supplies, and we bring point-of-care lab tests and, in some locations, even imaging to our patients. Some providers may carry basic examination equipment only.
We typically care for travelers in hotel rooms and many local residents at home. We have visited patients aboard cargo ships, yachts, on film sets, in offices, construction and other work sites, resorts, spas, residential facilities and other locations. Some of our patients are homebound. Most are not.
We treat children and adults.
The Position:
Mobile urgent care physician – adult & pediatric – multiple locations
We need one provider to help cover the San Francisco area for ~1 week per month.
We also have an immediate need for upstaffing on the Monterey Peninsula and the San Francisco South Bay Peninsula, with service areas to include Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Mountainview and San Jose.
Hours are flexible. Providers take call and are available for urgent response. Services are offered 24/7, however most requests are daytime and early evening. Night requests are uncommon.
The Financials
Independent contractor status.
Income is based on productivity and a percentage of collections, and can be exceptional. For the interested qualified candidate, pay details will be provided in more depth.
Liability coverage (1mil/3mil-claims made) is provided.
Candidate Requirements:
Unrestricted practitioner license
Experienced in adult & pediatric emergency medicine, or urgent care, or pediatric primary care (SF only)
Able to administer injections, start IV’s, suture, splint, carry your own equipment, etc.
Willing to function independently outside of an office, clinic or hospital setting without assistance (training will be provided).
Adventurous– must be able to think on your feet and welcome new challenges and situations.
Calm, personable, and respectful towards patients.
Able to empathically communicate with patients (Are you a good listener?).
Responsive when on-call (most of our housecall requests are urgent).
Must have reliable transportation.
Must be digitally connected-at least from home, and able to carry and use a mobile phone.
About Housecall Medicine:
While housecalls are a standard of care in most other countries, they are only recently beginning to make a comeback here in the USA. The resurgence of housecall medicine was triggered by Medicare funding changes in 1998. Mobile medical technologies have since fueled the medical housecall movement. Currently portable xrays, ultrasound, EKG’s, and even instant point-of-care blood testing are available. Housecall providers spend more time with, and therefore have a greater connection with, their patients, than than average non-mobile caregiver. Housecall patients tend to be highly appreciative of mobile medical services.
