MOBILE URGENT CARE SERVICES
Specific Conditions That We Treat
We treat children and adults.
- Eye conditions. Most urgent eye conditions such as conjunctivitis, foreign body (particle stuck in eye), abrasions (scratched eye) and other causes of eye pain are treated during the house call. State of the art mobile emergency opthalmology care equipment is carried by your housecall emergency physician.
- Ear-Otitis (infections), wax removal, foreign body removal. Ear laceration repair. Wick placement for swimmer's ear.
- Nose and throat infections -Strep and mononucleosis testing is available. Antibiotics provided. Symptomatic relief meds provided.
- Dental -emergency dental care, including antibiotics, anesthetic/analgesic pain relief, and dental specialty referral.
- Cough and mild respiratory conditions (Inhalers, nebulizers, spirometry, medications)
- Vomiting, diarrhea, mild to moderate dehydration- rapid relief with IV fluids, and anti-nausea and other medications.
- Mild traumatic injury including wound repair via suturing or stapling. Laceration repair can be performed safely in most house call settings. Sterility and cleanliness can be maintained. Tetanus vaccination is given when needed.
- Sprains, contusions, minor fractures -xray machine, splinting supplies and crutches may be brought to you upon request. Cast removal and cast splitting are available.
- Skin and soft tissue infection including cellulitis or abscess - pain relief, antibiotics, drainage and packing as needed.
- Skin Rash- Chicken pox, poison oak, allergic reaction with hives, dermatitis, fungal infections, impetigo, and many other rashes treated.
- Mild urinary tract infection. -bladder infection, cystitis, mild kidney infection. Urine testing is performed rapidly during the housecall visit.
- Certain medication reactions. We carry medications for allergic reactions and for rapid symptom relief.
- Difficult IV placement. PICC line placement, IV fluid hydration
- Urinary retention (inability to urinate) treatment. Difficult foley catheter placement
- Pediatrics -as Board certified Emergency Physicians we are fully prepared to care for urgent pediatric conditions. Pediatric specialty follow up care is arranged as needed. We communicate with your primary pediatrician when needed or requested.
- We recommend that patients attempt to contact their primary caregiver prior to requesting house call service. We will always communicate with your doctor when needed.
Medications & Supplies
- Medications – Most oral, injectable and other medications are provided upon request. Patients usually do not need to travel to the pharmacy after the house call visit, unless they prefer to.
- Medical supplies –Suturing (stitches) equipment, splints, dressings, crutches, oxygen, nebulizers, IV fluids, foley catheters, and many other supplies are provided – the supplies are brought to you.
- Written or telephoned prescriptions are always available from your housecall physician.
Diagnostic Testing
- Laboratory services – Many tests are available during the housecall visit. An iStat is carried for portable instant bedside blood testing for glucose, electrolytes, kidney function, and blood count. On scene testing for strep, mono, influenza and pregnancy are available. Urine dip analysis is also performed. Tests can also be arranged to be done at a lab of your choice. Lab specimens, including cultures or other specialized tests, obtained during the housecall visit may be sent to the lab for processing.
- Imaging services – Mobile xray services are available during the house call upon request. The xray or ultrasound machine is brought to you. Xray films may be reviewed with the patient on scene by the house call physician via wireless technology. Digital or hard copies of the xrays are provided to the patient. Other radiologic evaluation, such as MRI, and CT Scan, may be arranged at a radiology center near you.
For Your Safety
- Whenever medications are injected, your house call physician keeps advanced resuscitation apparatus readily available -just in case. In the extremely unlikely event of serious medication reaction, your care is in the hands of the most qualified caregiver in these situations, a Board Certified Emergency Physician. Oxygen, advanced airway, emergency medications and other equipment are available to provide you with the safest house call experience available. In the rare event of serious problem, your house call physician will help coordinate further care with the EMS system and hospital emergency department. Your safety is our number one priority.
